What is assertive Behavior?
Standing up for one’s rights no matter what the circumstances
Correcting the situation when one’s rights are being violated
Seeking respect and understanding for one’s feelings about a particular situation or circumstance
Interacting in a mature manner with those found to be offensive, defensive, aggressive, hostile, blaming, attacking, or otherwise, unreceptive
Direct, upfront-not defensive or manipulative-behavior. Those using assertive behavior confront the problems, disagreement, or personal discomforts head-on, and their intent is unmistakable to others
I am bringing up this very strong virtue because without the skill of assertion, their is no help for a victim of bullying. In some situations the bullying can be so extreme that only a courageous person who has high self worth can be brave enough to advocate and promote self worth for a victim. In every situation the skill to stand up requires a person who has self worth for those who are unaware of their self worth.
